HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Continuous Improvement Specialist on behalf of one of our clients. The ideal candidate would have experience in a mining environment.

This position is in Northern Canada. This is a permanent position with 3 on/3 off rotation.

Essential Job Functions:

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, this role will use continuous improvement methodologies to identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives across all departments.  The specialist will use data to develop operational insights. This information will then be communicated to senior management and leadership teams to support comprehensive decision-making, process changes, and cost saving initiatives.

  • Lead and influence personnel at multiple levels to improve operational processes that ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitability, drive quality improvements and reduce operating costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement by conducting a thorough analysis of data and environment.
  • Implement effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement tracking.
  • Support improvement in existing processes including eliminating variation and non-value-added work.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, and confidentiality.
  • Train/coach/mentor other employees on the principles of Continuous Improvement.
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Sciences preferably with a focus on statistics
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Continuous Improvement
  • 5-10 years of experience in mining
  • Formal training in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified, with proven track record of application.

Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes:

  • Strong technical and analytical skill set, including ability to identify and manage data, execute quality control, build Excel models and draw correct business insights and implications (Statistical analysis).
  • Working knowledge of operations management, finance, and business knowledge.
  • The ability to effectively communicate business insights and realistic solutions (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to organize and manage projects with positive results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to connect and work with all levels of employees and management.
