HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Controls Technologist on behalf of one of our clients. The ideal candidate would have experience in the fields of PLC programming and SCADA development.

This position is in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Essential Job Functions:

The Controls Technologist will be experienced in the fields of PLC programming and SCADA development and capable of executing on-site startup and commissioning functions.  Duties of this position include.

  • Work as a member of the Field Services Group to ensure accountability of work performance and adherence to expected productive and efficient work practices.
  • Design, develop, and implement small to medium sized programmable logic controller (PLC) and / or direct digital control (DDC) systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement SCADA graphic packages, including the selection of software and hardware.
  • Prepare schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Ability of setting up/programming field instrumentation and interfacing them with the control systems.
  • Adhere to established client OHS protocols and procedures.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Post-Secondary Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology (Instrumentation), or a relevant field of study, with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, OR an acceptable combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes:

Operational knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), specifically Rockwell, Omron, SCADAPak (Experience with other major platforms is considered an asset).

Solid understanding of networking, such as TCP/IP, Modbus/TCP and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.).

Demonstrated skills in the application of operational principles related to Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) as well as skills in developing, diagnosing, and modifying SCADA/HMI software and hardware, specifically VTScada & Factory Talk. (Experience with other major platforms is considered an asset.)

Flexible hours and have effective time management and effective record keeping skills with the ability to manage multiple project schedules.  You will have effective communication skills, with an attention to detail, a strong work ethic and a positive team attitude.

Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license.
