Job Description:

HR Project Partners is currently hiring a Lead Advisor – Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA&QC) on behalf of our Client within the Mining industry. This incumbent will have 15+ years of experience in project execution/quality assurance & control, data analysis, or related field.  A strong knowledge about ASME, API, and CSA codes, CWB and other industry standards is also required. Previous experience in a mining environment would be considered an asset.

 

This position is located in Labrador City, NL. This is a contract position for an initial duration of six months, with possibility of renewal. A fly-in/fly-out rotation of three-weeks in/one-week out will be offered for non-local candidates.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for developing a quality management system and quality assurance support/audits for Capital Projects within Client sites.
  • Develop and track quality metrics so that progress can be measured and evaluated.
  • Plan, scope, and schedule internal quality audits for projects during study, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal Regulations, National and International Standards, Client Standards, and procedures, including Technical Standards, quality management documentation requested from potential suppliers, and a review of existing quality management documentation for vendors and contractors on Client’s approved supplier list.
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, prepare checklists, and audit reports and perform statistical data & trend analysis of audit findings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project management teams to mitigate the risk associated with quality system implementation and safety in design.
  • Interface with consultants and contractor’s Project Management and Quality Assurance teams to ensure optimal project delivery outcomes and review their quality management documents
  • Responsible for the review, update, and implementation of changes to the quality management system, corrective and preventive action for quality-related process improvements, and review/development of quality plans.
  • Take part or engage a third-party inspection company in quality checks at vendor facility and contractor’s work at the site, pre-commissioning, system completion walk-downs, etc.
  • Fulfill obligations in the Client safety program.
  • Be able to review the project documentation such as design documents, commissioning plans, method statements, checklists, inspection & test plans (ITPs).
  • Facilitate lessons learned and document best practices so knowledge is shared and applied
  • Coordinate with project teams on lessons learnt and root cause analysis sessions when needed to identify sources of problems and develop solutions that prevent a recurrence.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices related to quality control in the mining industry.
  • Conduct training sessions for Client employees regarding QA/QC process and responsibilities.
  • Arrange meetings with the Client service providers about quality issues and review non-compliance reports (NCR).
  • Report to the Manager – Technical Services.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in project execution/quality assurance & control, data analysis, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge about ASME, API, and CSA codes, CWB and other industry standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in MS Office, Excel, and database management.
  • Experience in a mining environment would be considered an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes:

  • Strong safety focus and willingness to enforce safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with engineering models, 3D models, related tools, and software.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
  • Ability to communicate data insights clearly to different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity, understanding, knowledge, and previous experience of the following:
  • Projects and various phases of execution (e.g. OoM, PFS, FS, EPC, Commissioning),
  • Turnaround & Shutdown dynamic and expectations for such environment,
  • Business / Project management skills (e.g. schedule, cost, resource planning, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and technical writing in English.
  • Proficiency in the French language would be considered a strong asset.
