JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Mine Operations Supervisor on behalf of our client, Calibre, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 10 years of mining experience, 5 of which at a leadership level, preferably in an open pit setting.

The Mine Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and productive movement of materials within the mine site. This includes managing operators, coordinating equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and production targets.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, who has demonstrated integrity and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. You have strong leadership skills and are able to empower others while positively contributing within a dynamic team environment. You have excellent attention to detail with a strong interest in continuous improvement. You are a motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task, adapt, and prioritize contending demands.

This position is located at the Valentine Gold Mine site on a 14 day in/14 day out rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Team Supervision

  • Manage and optimize truck, shovel, drilling, and blasting functions to improve production and minimize operating costs.
  • Collaborate with department leads to ensure understanding of mine plans and mine maintenance activities to coordinate mining activities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback and training as needed.

Operations Management

  • Plan and oversee daily production schedules to meet operational targets.
  • Monitor equipment performance, utilization, and operator efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the dispatch and technical teams to optimize performance and production.

Coordination and Reporting

  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Technical Services, Maintenance, and Processing) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, labor, and equipment use.
  • Prepare and submit daily shift reports, highlighting production data, delays, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee attendance, equipment hours, and material movement.

Safety Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to mine safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and inspections to minimize risks.
  • Investigate and report any incidents or hazards, implementing corrective measures.

Environmental Responsibility

  • Ensure all mining activities comply with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact.
  • Participate in sustainability initiatives as required by the company.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Stay updated with mining industry technologies and practices to maintain operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mining Engineering Technician preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of mining experience, 5 of which at a leadership level, preferably in a open pit setting.
  • Experience in a remote work site, and rotational schedule is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in mine planning software and operational systems.
  • Previous management of multiple contractors simultaneously as part of the operations team.
  • Development, coaching and training coordination of all direct reports to help team succeed.
  • Proven success in mid to large scale open pit mine settings. Relevant qualifications in appropriate area of expertise.
  • Ability to interpret mine plans and offer sound technical expertise with regards to mine plans.
  • Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
  • Effective time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to influence and inspire others and manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.

Calibre Mining Corporation is engaged in the exploration and development of the Valentine Gold Project (the “Project”) located in the central region of Newfoundland and Labrador. Once in production, it will be the largest gold mine in Atlantic Canada and a major employer in the province.
