HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Project Controls Engineer/Technician on behalf of one of our Clients. The ideal applicant would have 7+ years’ experience in project controls and previous experience within Heavy Industrial and/or Oil and Gas environments.
This position is located in St. John’s, NL for a duration of 12-24 months.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare Estimates for EPC & Maintenance Scopes of Work.
- Coordination of estimate inputs from the project team.
- Proposing units to be used and preparing the justification of their use.
- Obtaining approval of unit costs to be used, content of analysis and reports from the project control lead or department manager.
- Evaluating and recommending allowances for design unknowns, escalation, and contingency and fees.
- Reviewing estimates based on experience.
- Maintain estimating and change request registers.
- Monitoring cost forecasts based on to date performance, analyzing trends and making recommendations to project managers.
- Coordination & Preparation of Change Requests.
- Research on cost and productivity trends for use in future estimates.
- Assist / Develop monthly contract reporting (cost, KPI, etc).
- Conduct regular updates of cost, schedule and resource assignments, liaising with the project team, contractors, and operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology;
- 7+ years experience in project control or management;
- Previous experience within Heavy Industrial and/or Oil and Gas environments;
- Familiarity with both schedule and cost performance index;
- Proficient in the use of SAP;
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.

- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to forecast, analyze and work under pressure.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
