SECOND ENGINEER (CRUDE OIL VESSEL)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Second Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate must hold a second-class motor license, advanced tanker endorsement, and MED’s.

This is a permanent position, with a start date of August 15, 2023. This position will work on a 35 days on/35 days off schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Watch-keeping in the control room to ensure safe and efficient operation of all mechanical and electrical equipment on the vessel.
• Conducting regular safety inspection of the mechanical equipment.
• Assisting with the engineering repairs.
• Regular maintenance tasks of assigned systems.
• Supervision of the Mechanical Assistants and Cadets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Approximately 8-9 years of academic schooling and practical experience.
• College Diploma in Marine Engineering (or equivalent).
• Successful completion of numerous courses and training certifications.
• Passing through a separate series of written examinations at each level.
• Extensive courses are required to be taken for Canadian Coast Guard Certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work independently with little direction and/or within a team environment;
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to forecast, analyze and work under pressure;
• Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; and
• Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
